I am very proud of my first term accomplishments which include results that will improve and insure Charlotte's economic and environmental sustainability for future generations. I was also honored and humbled in the past year to be recognized by the Mecklenburg Times as one of Charlotte's "Most Influential Women" and I received the "Global Service Award" by The Charlotte International Rotary Club. A brief list of my ongoing City Council accomplishments and ongoing projects include:

  • Leading Charlotte to becoming a global leader in sustainability with bipartisan support: Pledged to lower our region's carbon emissions followed by passing the city's first strategic energy action plan. Charlotte then won the "American Cities Climate Challenge" within 24 hours!
  • A record of bold accomplishments on affordable housing. I played an integral role in securing the funding and neighborhood support for the affordable housing development, St. John's Place, which serves some of the most vulnerable members of our community. I continue to advocate for expanding access to affordable housing.
  • Increasing local awareness and action on public and school safety.
  • Bringing attention, traction and economic opportunities to the 69-acre Eastland site, an area left undeveloped for years.
  • Championed citywide equitable transportation and recreation options, especially for the Cross Charlotte Trail.
